The NYCHA Jackson Houses development consists of seven residential buildings with a central boiler plant located in Building 4. Working in an active development, we installed new gas for six buildings, and new gas mains and risers in all seven residential buildings – with minimal impact to the residents and daily operations of the NYCHA facility.
This project included the removal of existing gas pipe risers, including both concealed and exposed risers. New gas mains and risers were installed including building shutoff valves, riser control valves, gas meter outlet valves, piping to boiler pilots, and piping, stop cocks, and flexible connectors to gas ranges. The gas piping was tested, shutdown, purged, and restored as required. New gas services from street mains were installed to six residential buildings along with new gas meters in coordination with the gas utility company. This work included the associated excavation, core drilling, tree protection, backfilling, landscaping, and concrete pad installation work.
